#FALLOUT NEW VEGAS FILE SIZE INSTALL#
I've tried to use the Ne Vegas Save Cleaner but it's either not working or the instructions are for a Skyrim install and dont translate well to New Vegas.
#FALLOUT NEW VEGAS FILE SIZE PATCH#
I've long since installed the 4GB patcher I've had it running alone with numerous stability mods and patch extenders since the start of the play-through. (If a fix can be found I'll post my step-by-step of how it works so others who encounter can follow along) If not, that's really tragic because it makes this game feel as if you're playing with arbitrary time/content limit preventing me from exploring everything within reason with a single playthrough. If anyone has a fix for decreasing save file size or any patch mods that will clean the save file to reduce those 2 - 3 minute load times I would love to hear them. Are there any remedies to fixing the issue of growing save file size causing ludicrous load times or is this unfortunately a sad reality of this game in that you're essentially playing on a vague time limit forcing the player to complete the game before the engine keels over and dies from the save file bloat. The save file is roughly 70 hours into the play-through so as it stands I'm not interested in restarting a game to fix the issue of unbelievably long load time as I've become invested in this character. I'm only half way through the main story but I've been completing side quests and DLC quests as I go. Original document at teamx.Having researched relentlessly online for any solutions to this issue, I've currently found no fix to this problem but I'm hoping someone smarter than me in this discussions page can remedy this or at least point me in the right direction.Įssentially, my save file size has recently surpassed 16mb. Tag for the availability of additional tables.? Table for converting RGB values => index in the palette. The easiest way to get correct colors is to multiply the value by 4, so that a palette entry of "1,2,3" actually becomes "4,8,12" in RGB. Since normal RGB goes from 0.255, using palette colors (0.63) directly to draw the image will make it very dark. 229 to 232 are animated green (for radioactive waste), 238 to 247 are orange, red and yellow (for fires), and the rest are bright blue (computer screens). If the value of one color component is not in the range 0.63, in a special table the index is marked as unused, and all components of the color are set to 0.Įlements from 229 to 254 are used as 'animation colors' and Fallout sets their values itself. The first element (index 0) is always considered transparent (actual color is ignored).

When loading PAL files, if these tables don't exist FALLOUT2.exe and MAPPER2.exe will generate them.Īlso note that values contained in custom PAL files provided for individual FRM files are subject to certain changes in the game and mapper engines.Ĭolors in the palette are in the range 0.63.

Additionally, they contain a table for transforming RGB values into an index in the palette (speculated as being used for extracting fonts), and also several tables concatenated beyond the main file data whose uses are not clear.Īs referenced below, the Palette area ( 0x00000000 - 0x000002FF) and the RBG Conversion Table area ( 0x00000300 - 0x000082FF) are required elements in PAL files. PAL files contain a palette used when rendering FRM frame data. Information about PAL files was obtained by various TeamX members through analyzing relevant functions in MAPPER2.exe and FALLOUT2.exe, as well as trying to implement a simple FRM display in a program.
