I was a huge fan of SST when that movie came out so I was geeking out when Starcraft released and got to play the closest thing I will ever get to a good Starship Troopers game. Here is a propaganda vid from SST as a refresher Just in time for Halloween, take your pick of these two creature cocktails: a Stranger Things inspired Pineapple UPSIDE-DOWN Cake cocktail, and a Starship Tr. Watch this cutscene from the original SC game Įven the mention of overmind is like the brain creature from SST It's pretty much an undeniable connection when you see this. While the graphics and story is different, the general idea and announcer style is real similar. The wartime propaganda commercials in Starcraft's cutscenes are real similar to the way Starship Troopers did theirs. However, much more blatant borrowing from SST was in SC's cut scenes. I am sure Aliens and Warhammer 40k Also played a role here in their designs. This was gentle influence at best though. Tanker Bugs are capable of completely disintegrating. Soldier bugs are capable of breaking through steel and solid rock land. Some of Zerg designs (parts of their bodies, like limbs, head, mandibles) had some distant influences from the SST bug creatures. Attack Potency: Varies from Below Average level via the smallest castes, Street level to Wall level for most warrior castes, Small Building level for the larger castes, transport bugs can likely achieve far higher (Bugs like the carrion bug can barely reach 10 inches. At 26 inches high and 53 inches long the Warrior Bug features a tremendous amount of detail that looks great from any angle. The timing lines up just about right to have an influence on some final designs and cutscenes. Based on the scf-fi adventure film Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, Ganatku has created an epic diorama statue of a massive Warrior Bug breaching through the walls of a barricade. Movie came out in 1997 and original Starcraft game came out in 1998. I'm still convinced some of Blizzard's original Starcraft game's art and cut scenes were inspired original Starship Troopers movie. YouTube has all the best scenes of you want a Cole’s Notes version. However, a hive mind is altruism in its purest form! The bugs of the hive mind therefore all have the highest morals. What I find ironic about the book is that Robert Heinlein argues that morality is about placing the welfare of others above your own, and soldiers embody that virtue more than anyone. The screenplay of the movie was originally unrelated to the book, but after noticing parallels between the stories they licensed the book and drew from it heavily. The majority of the book is in fact philosophical discussion. The bugs are a hive mind and in fact represent communism in its purest form.
STARSHIP TROOPERS WARRIOR BUG PRO
This is actually in stark contrast to the book, which is pro military, pro corporal punishment, and anti-communist. The director, Paul Verhoeven, himself says the movie is about how “war makes us all fascists”. I remembered the movie as having a critical take on war. I’m just finishing the book Starship Troopers at the moment.
